How Do I Assign Books to my Students?

Learn how to manually assign books to your students from the Library.

Books are automatically assigned to students after they complete assessments. As a teacher, you can also manually assign specific books to match your lessons. Teacher-assigned books appear first under My Tasks and are marked with a blue outline and "Assigned" label.

Step 1: Go to Instructional Resources and click Browse Library under Reading.

Step 2: Use the filters to search by topic, genre, text complexity, Social Studies, or Science.

Step 3: Click "Add to Bag" on each book you want to assign. You can select multiple books.

Step 4: Click "Create Assignments." Select the students or the whole class, tick the books to assign, then click "Submit."

Step 5: Review the assignment. Set a due date and enable "Include Fluency" or "Include Book Audio" if you want students to record their reading or listen to their reading. Click "Next."

Step 6: If prompted for a writing assignment, click "Skip." Review the final assignment summary and click "Create Assignment."

From the Teacher Dashboard, click "Reading" under Weekly Checklist to check student progress. To see full assignment details go to Students > Activity History. You can view book status, quiz results, and fluency recordings.
